The light during midnight sun is a surreal and unforgettable experience. In the middle of summer, magic hour in Iceland lasts all night long with the ever present sun slowly transitioning from sunset to sunrise. Hues of pinks, purples, reds and oranges explode for hours across the sky. We often shot from 9pm to 4am while everyone else was sleeping.

Following the weather and microclimates, each afternoon we drove to where the conditions were best. We covered most of Iceland, from the Snaefellsnes peninsula and the landscapes in the north, to the eastern fjords and the Vatnajokull glacier in the south, to the central Highlands where lava from the recent eruption in Bardurbunga was still cooling.

Enjoy this visual odyssey of Iceland during the midnight sun.

The Netflix original series, Narcos, tells the extraordinary true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe. All ten episodes will premiere on August 28 at 12:01am PST exclusively on Netflix.

This raw, gritty series chronicles the gripping real-life stories of the drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It details the many, often-conflicting forces - legal, political, police, military and civilian - that clash in the effort to control cocaine, one of the world's most valuable commodities.

Digital Kitchen's goal in developing a title sequence for Narcos was to focus on capturing a moment in time in the efforts to apprehend one of the most infamous drug lords in history, Pablo Escobar. Extensively researched and developed, the main title incorporates live-action footage shot on location in Colombia and Los Angeles with extensive archival imagery, including photography and video from the vaults of Escobar’s personal photographer “El Chino.”

The vibrancy of the colors used were reflective of the lavish excesses of the time and the natural beauty of Colombia.

Acadia

A year-long time-lapse project in Acadia National Park by 18 year old Will Greene. Started as a senior exhibition project at Mount Desert Island High School, the film spans four seasons with over 35,000 images and 36 hours worth of footage, all compressed into 5 minutes. My hope is that this film inspires others to appreciate and protect Acadia and the natural world as a whole.

Scotland from the sky

This summer, I bought a drone from DJI. After only one flight at home, I went to Scotland on holliday with my family. I spent two weeks in there admiring the beautiful landscapes around all over the Country. This is mostly shot on the Isle of Skye and Mull. There is also few images from Loch Leven near Glencoe.

Shot on a DJI Phantom 3 Professionnal all in 4K resolution with log color profile.
Graded with FilmConvert Plugin with Premiere Pro. I used the A7S Cine4 log profile. I think it is a pretty good match with the DJI log profile

I Love Yosemite

I am not well traveled, but of the places I have adventured, Yosemite is by far the most beautiful. I simply love Yosemite. Initially, I have gone to Yosemite for rock climbing adventures, but this time around in May 2015, we were backpacking for 4 days. A very grim forecast left the Valley extremely empty and the trails, even more isolated. However, other then a light drizzle the weather was nearly perfect. I went with my good friends Matt, Chris, and Scott. Christ had been to Yosemite once long ago, but Matt and Scott were Yosemite virgins. I repeatedly told them that Yosemite will be the most beautiful place you ever see and Matt, having recently traveled the Southwest (Arches, Zion, Grand Canyon, etc.) was skeptical. Needless to say, we were all saying, "I Love Yosemite" by the end.

I brought my Sony a7s and a7ii with my 24-70mm f/4 and 35mm f/1.4. Scott brought an a7s with 28-70mm lens. It was a lot of work, but well worth the extra weight and time.

Itinerary:
Day 1 - From the Glacier Point trailhead, we headed towards Illilouette Falls and hiked in a few miles and set up camp.
Day 2 - We cut on the bottom of Mt. Starr King and merged with the Panoramic Trail. We continued past Little Yosemite Valley to an area that might be considered the saddle between Clouds Rest and Half Dome.
Day 3 - Hike to Half Dome via cables and have a rest day.
Day 4 - Hike out to the Valley via the Mist Trail and take our time to soak in the views.

I highly recommend this itinerary for people that want to take their time, but still get to see a lot. We had very little miles each day, but that allowed for us to enjoy the adventure rather then keeping our heads down and hiking 20 miles/day.

"El Coyote" is a Film based on true a story of a human smuggler also know as a coyote. He describes his process and the mechanics of slipping between the Mexico and U.S. border. He shares the brief moments he’s has with the people he’s trying to cross over seeking for a better life.
Director Javier Barboza interviewed a human smuggler, also known as “Coyotes”. The coyote agreed on the interview if he concealed his identity, by using the media of animation and casting actor Jose Callela as the voice over for the narration, from the original testimony.
El Coyote code name G-lok smuggled undocumented immigrants from various regions of Latin America between Tijuana, Mexico and San Ysidro to the United States. Within five years, G-lok had crossed over six hundred people.The original interview was done in 2010.

Renowned graffiti, tattoo, and fine artist Mike Giant overcame his vessel to create an incredibly diverse and yet uniquely unified canon. In this episode we follow Mike as he creates drawings, paintings and collage for a solo exhibit at Guerrero Gallery in San Francisco, throws up a couple graffiti pieces in San Francisco, and returns to tattooing for a limited basis. All while creating designs for his own clothing label Rebel 8. Mike wears his heart on his sleeve and is a thoughtful and dedicated artist that, with his giant heart, continues to inspire generations.

Floating Points - Silhouettes (official video)

An oscillating stream of light attempts to intrude on an arid natural landscape, abstract light and a living environment merge, reacting to the dynamics of the music.
The luminous abstract forms are produced by a light-painting machine that, frame by frame, draws in a real environment the 3D animated figures.
This is an experimental video created by Pablo Barquín, Junior Martínez, Nathan Grimes and Anna Diaz Ortuño.
