From Fragments

FROM FRAGMENTS tells the story of an elderly couple that must battle through the grips of dementia to finish the swan-song of their lifelong love.

The film explores the burden ‘love’ places on us: to compromise, to sacrifice and (most of all) to cherish.

A true multi-disciplinary collaboration between a musician, two dancers and a filmmaker. The film combines these three artforms to envisage the devastating emotional reality of dementia.

Londoners

There is no place that has the same energy and vibe you feel in #London. I spent two years immersing myself across all the inner boroughs of London through its famous streets to the well kept secret locations with the only intent to grab a tiny part of the soul of this city and pack it in a video for you.
Not an easy task as its soul is being constantly reshaped as new cultures, arts and trends are emerging everyday.

This is one of the most demanding and challenging projects of my career as I put together more than 6000 video clips captured with several type of cameras and devices in over 2 years. I have squeezed them all into this short film that shows more than 70 London locations.

A Day in Yosemite

In December, we only had from sun-up to sun-down in Yosemite National Park. Most of the trails we wanted to go on were closed, so we decided to try and see as much of the park as we could.

For all of you out there who read specs on what the FS5 RAW + Shogun Inferno is capable of, but just want to see some solid footage... I made this video for just that. Not saying there isn't great footage out there, but I found myself searching and searching, trying to find something that matched what all the numbers were saying. Hopefully this does the trick.

Filmed at 24fps in 12-bit Cinema DNG in PP9 S-Log-3). Recolored with a Lutify.me preset. Everything edited in Premiere Pro CC.

Equipment:
Sony FS5 with RAW Upgrade
Shogun Inferno with 1 TB G-Technology Atomos Master Caddy
Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens
Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM Lens
Rode NTG-3 Microphone (although most of the audio is added in post)

Wealth Not A Waste - Jib's Story

70% of all diseases in Ghana are caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation with 6 million people being unable to access to clean drinking water. This has led to the widespread use of the water sachet which has become a necessity in providing a clean and treated source of water across Ghana. These used sachets unfortunately are extensively littered throughout towns and villages.

In 2015, Jib Hagan's wife Alba passed away and he was lost in finding the direction his life would take next. His children told him that he couldn't just sit and let other people suffer and so he decided to set up a charity (C.A.R.E 4 Basket) to highlight the environmental issues affecting rural communities in Ghana and the impact of global warming on their livelihoods.

This is his story.

A film created in partnership with C.A.R.E 4 Basket, Pala and Heist.

HOW TO BE ALONE

One woman’s simple, three-step guide to surviving a night on your own.

This dark and wickedly fun short film stars Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest) as a woman whose deepest fears seem to manifest physically when her husband, played by Joe Keery (Stranger Things), leaves for the night shift. What is love? "Symphony"

Up-and-coming filmmaker Jai Moseley directs this pensive film on the shared experience of love and relationships. “The result is a kaleidoscopic film of unencumbered moments between people and places, and centered in feelings, memories, and experiences that are intrinsic to us all,” the New York based director reveals. Moseley takes hackneyed themes of love, loss, death and purpose and brings them back to a human level by allowing ordinary people to share their personal experiences.

The hotly tipped director spent eight weeks filming in Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood, or as he describes them, “neighbourhoods where during summer people celebrate life outside on the street.” He continues, “I wanted to ask people questions I didn’t have the answers to—the kinds of questions that follow us through our lives.”

Moseley treats the experiences of all ages with equal weight as he provides a platform for children, parents and an ageing midwife who has presided over 500 births to share their unfiltered thoughts on love and loss. The director comments, “Symphony comes from a longing for authentic connection, which I think is a feeling we all grapple with to a degree.”

Construction timelapse - Time Square Casino, Sun International, Pretoria, SA

We are super excited to finally launch this video showcasing the longterm timelapse that we captured for Sun International - their biggest development in the hospitality, gaming and leisure industry since the construction of Grand West in Cape Town more than 18 years ago.
Located at Menlyn Maine in Pretoria/Tshwane, the second largest casino in South Africa is officially open and you better be there!
After almost 4 years of careful planning, designing and award wining construction, tick tock, the Sun Arena and Hotel are all finally complete.

Time Square Casino forms part of the broader R8 Billion “Green City” development in the capital city. The designing and construction was done by Aurecon who was just one of the many members involved in this R4.6 Billion development with construction starting in May 2015. The casino was part of the first phase which opened in April 2017. Later that year the Sun Arena opened during November, followed by the Maslow Time Square Hotel in April 2018. This is also the first venue of its kind in Tshwane.

Time Square offers world-class restaurants and uninterrupted gaming with 2,000 slot machines and 60 tables. The hotel offers unique hospitality options as it provides a range of 3-star, 4-star and 5-star accommodation in the same 17 storey building with over 200 rooms as well as an 800-seat conference centre. The multi-purpose Arena can accommodate up to 8,500 in seating arrangement (while it offers unobstructed views from all positions) and up to 10,000 people for a standing concert. This is indeed a prime location for grand scale events!

The buildings have all been designed with the aim of achieving a best practice four-star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa. While at it, WBHO used steel to achieve the very complex curved feature visible at the entrance of the casino which resulted in an award winning steel structure from SAISC for the annual steel awards in 2017.

Project name: Menlyn Time Square Arch and Globe Bar.
Location: Time Square Casino entrance, Tshwane, Gauteng.
ArcelorMittal steel used: Nostra reinforcing bar.
Architectural category winner.

Global Roofing solutions supplied steel roof cladding for construction at the Sun Arena and yet another award was received in this category, also in 2017.

Menlyn Time Square Casino Globe Bar and Casino Arch
Category: Winner of the Tubular and Architectural Category
Region: Pretoria, Gauteng
Roof Cladding Installed: 1200m2 of Klip-Tite

More construction related statistics are shared in the video.

Into The Flows (The Southwest of Vietnam)

A combination of sounds and images captured from our 4 day trip to the southwestern part of Vietnam. We not only got into the flows of the Mekong River Delta, but also the flows of diversity and interesting culture of this place.

"Hearing the gentle wind blowing on the vast fields
Watching the seedlings sprouting out of the soil

One woman’s simple, three-step guide to surviving a night on your own.

Jakarta Joy (4k -Time lapse - Tilt shift)

Jakarta is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. Jakarta is an enormously big city and predicted to reach 35.6 million people by 2030 to become the world's biggest megacity.
Maybe for that reason it's not very popular among tourists and most people use it just as a hub to reach any of the island. But maybe exactly for this reason I really enjoyed the city.

Once you get used to the messy traffic and the sheer size of this place its actually an interesting city. I really enjoyed my time there and got to meet many incredibly nice locals.

In a world that prizes traditional masculinity and in which ideas of ancestry are fundamental, being gay can be isolating. Suicide rates are extremely high in both young farmers and gay men in particular, and combining these can be a recipe for tragedy. But there are also thriving gay scenes in the most rural of towns, stories of unexpected friendships and relationships, and moments so unlikely that they could only happen in real life. Candid, intimate and shocking, Landline is a snapshot of a group of people bound together by circumstance but so often isolated from each other.

Honouring modern masculinity through dance in "Come Together" - And editorial partnership with Harrods - NOWNESS

Men’s Superbrands is the new global hub for luxury menswear and one of the world’s most iconic designer brand destinations— newly opened at Harrods in Knightsbridge, London. With resplendent furnishings, generous floor space, personalised shopping and bespoke styling, Men’s Superbrands showcases flagship designs from labels such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga and Ermenegildo— inspiring all men to unite in style and spirit.

Acclaimed British portrait photographer Campbell Addy directs this coming-of-age allegory featuring four dancers who explore movement in pursuance of authentic existence. Each mover is given agency to explore his kinesthetic space in partially unchoreographed shots, either bathed in luminescent colour or cloaked in shadow; eventually their energies coalesce to form a united dance front. This tableau is an expression of Harrods’ celebration of the modern masculinity, with movements that juxtapose delicacy with strength, and sensuality with play.

For over 180 years Harrods has provided a platform for creativity in fashion, fine crafts and luxury goods. The launch of Men’s Superbrands, designed by award-winning interior design firm David Collins Studio, is an inclusive space of 19 brand boutiques where men can come together and to define their own masculinity.

Grid Girls

Grid Girls is a high-octane meditation on the young ladies of the car scene. Set between North Carolina and the Bronx, this short film by Georgia Krause explores the intersecting worlds of Alexus Motes and Mely B. Alexus is a fledgling driver who draws her strength from faith and her family’s racing legacy. Mely B is a car model with a passion for the unique energy of the racing life, for the burnt rubber smells and wild machinery on the track. It goes without saying that the race car scene is a historically male-dominated world and that just by chasing their passions, these two ladies are pioneering new ground and carving out new spaces in the sport. Even though they have to juggle everything from homework to double standards, Alexus and Mely have their pedals to the floor and eyes on the future.
