This video was inspired by the moving words and voice of Glennon Doyle and her take on how the Coronavirus is impacting a generation of children, and how we should talk to them about it.
This video is also me processing and expressing my feelings during this traumatic time and using Doyle’s words as a gateway into deeper conversations with my children about pain and sacrifice and the greater good.

"And about this time of pain for our kids: It’s Real.
They’re learning the truth we’ve been trying to hide from them which is that aint nobody in control down here and nobody can really protect them. Not really. This experience will change and shape this generation. I don’t think that’s all bad. They are being called early to make sacrifices for the greater good. They are learning early that they are part of something larger than themselves: that their small act of staying inside their home makes a difference to the larger world. This is a lesson in interconnectedness and individual power. They will learn that they matter and that we belong to each other and that sometimes in a divisive world we are called to come together and sacrifice for each other and that is what makes us great. Talk to them like that. Show them the doctors and nurses and the children who miss them: show them the love stories of neighbors showing up for each other - show them why this world is worth saving and how they are a part of saving it. Maybe this will end up being a mighty connected honorable generation not despite of this time but because of it.
We can do hard things. Like allow pain to work its magic- on us, on our children, on our friends, on the world."
