BAAUER — PLANET'S MAD
The new album by Baauer arrives June 5 on LuckyMe • baauer.com
Directed by Rick Farin and Clair Cochran at Actual Objects.
"From the start, nobody knew what to make of it. It looked like nothing anyone had ever seen. Scientists rushed to study it, artists to capture it, mystics to worship it. They all thought they could know it, claim it. But the longer you looked at it, the more it would change. By the time they thought they had figured it out, it was something else. I tried to take a picture that first day, but the photo just came out black. All we knew was that it was here now. And by the second day, as it hung there in the sky, iridescent and massive, it suddenly seemed familiar, even friendly. And we knew its name, we woke with it on our minds like a strange dream. It was a message, one word: BAAUER."

Still Here (還在)
In Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a few residents refuse to leave their now-abandoned village.

"Still Here" was filmed in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in the village where my grandmother lived, my mother grew up, and where I spent my childhood summers. Nine years ago, my grandmother moved out of the village. Recently, I discovered that not only did nobody move into my grandmother's house after she left, but that the entire village had been displaced and decayed for years, except for a few residents who refused to leave. I was curious to find out what their lives were like now that the village was abandoned, and why they decided to stay.

Built From Within
My wife and I disappeared into the Rocky Mountains for a week last summer on a mission to complete the Teton Crest Trail. We decided to bring my 16mm camera along to document the 40-mile trek, figuring that the footage would last a lot longer than any bruises made by our heavy packs.
In hindsight, now going on six-weeks cooped up inside a NYC apartment, deciding to shoot this trip feels like one of the best decisions we've made. Like many of us in these uncertain times, I've been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster lately, but this footage has given me an escape.
Here's to hoping that someone else can find some solace in it as well.

Isang Milyon
"ISANG MILYON" means one million in Filipino. I clearly dont' know how many fishes I saw but maybe more than a million !
Some shots I took during incredible dives last year. It was the first time I saw a sardine run. This is how I tried to transpose what I felt in this edit. The dynamic song really helped me to edit this insanity.
I chose the black and white grading to accentuate the graphic side and the movements of the shoal.
Again my friend Air Goat composed this great custom song. Follow him on his social media : soundcloud.com/airgoatmusic

DONT KNOW WHAT
Employing the method of single frame editing, primarily focused on sound, the realistic film image transforms into a surreal, structuralist and finally even abstract film. It creates a musical composition while experimenting with the human voice and transforming language into sound and music. DONT KNOW WHAT questions classical rules of different film genres by combining elements of avant-garde film / video art and entertainment cinema.
UNTIL THERE WAS NOTHING
"Until There Was Nothing"
...or "How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Black Hole"
Someday this will pass and there will be nothing left. The inevitable spaghettification of it all. That's not something to fear "because we come from nothing" as Alan Watts puts it... and from nothing comes something new. Similarly to a much lesser degree, this project was pieced together repurposing old and unused material to create something new.

Siras spends half of his life in prison, not being guilty of what he is accused, a false sentence, that is only recognized after years of his imprisonment. In his captivity, he starts to accept the idea of his guilt and fate. Released into freedom, he is haunted by the incomprehension and incredulity of this new judgment, and doubts its truth. He eludes a society from which he has alienated and in a life at night, spending his days to build a cage within his home to be locked away from the rest of the world.

They Saw The Sun First
“Old people’s speech is not to be dishonoured - after all, they saw the sun first.”
They Saw the Sun First is a timely film by Stefan Hunt featuring real interviews with New York’s elderly and a dreamy score by FKJ - brought to life through dance, performance and the magic of imagination, the poignant message in this film could not be more relevant in these times.
Turn the volume up, turn the lights down, turn your emails off, and take in all the wisdom of our elders. Enjoy.

Quarantine Loops
A personal side project made during the first days of quarantine during the Covid-19 crisis we are all sadly living. Being confined is something new for all of us and it is not easy. Lots of people worldwide are suffering, confused and scared.
We want to help by spreading some hope out there doing it so through humor and love meanwhile trying to make this confinement a little bit easier for everyone.
Simple thoughts such as how to occupy your time wisely, trying to stay active, healthy or simply to learn how to slow down. Things that this society seemed to have forgotten.
Because perhaps we all can learn something positive about this surreal and uncertain experience.
Stay home. Stay positive.

Fear and circumstances - that what makes us choose. From the moment of awareness to the moment of making a decision, we are like in a dream. Le Temps et l'Espace
"Le Temps et l'Espace" is an experimental video made with inks and paints on an infinitely small surface which gives an impression of spatial immensity. Slow and contemplative, we can take the time to see the material transform and move in circular motions.
the music produced by Alexis Dehimi is meant to be immersive in order to fully enter this journey of a few minutes.
This film was made with a RED camera 8K and a Canon 65mm MP-E f / 2.8 Macro lens.

Excelsior #EverUpward is the culmination of numerous sleepless nights driving through NYC at the height of the Covid19 quarantine. The film was created in effort to positively reflect forwards and highlight what New Yorkers miss most in the center of self-isolation.
All footage shot on our iPhones. Voices and videos are family, friends and acquaintances used with permission and sent in specifically for this project alone. All sounds are our own.
Special thanks to the friends and acquaintances who left voicemails, recorded calls, donated their sounds, thoughts and voices to our love letter of encouragement and thanks to NYC.

Truth in Fire
Record-breaking temperatures and prolonged droughts precipitated one of the worst bushfires in Australian history, with an area larger than the state of West Virginia burning from June 2019 until March 2020. Australian filmmaker and visual artist Tim Georgeson shares his latest project, Truth in Fire—a visually stunning and deeply moving journey into the world of indigenous fire keepers.

DELIVERED
A slice of life in the time of corona. Thousands of invisible front line workers risk their health every day to bring food to your couch. They aren't just immigrants struggling to survive in New York City. They aren't just the delivery men and women you don't look at when you open your door. They are the backbone of this city, they are the essential. Most importantly, they are people too and they deserve our respect and recognition now more than ever. Tip generously if you'd like and give them PPE if you can.
I've been riding alongside couriers and messengers in the city for a decade. In the past, I've been mistaken as a delivery biker whenever I carry any sort of bag even in my own building, probably because I'm asian. That used to annoy me, but now I realize they're more needed than most of us.

Earth Odyssey - Asaf Avidan (Official Video)
This video was made by dancers from different continents filming themselves in their confinement with their personal phones and computers.
It was made in the first week of April 2020 while almost 2 billion people around the globe were unable to move freely due to the restrictions imposed in attempt to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus.
"I found so much beauty in the need of people to keep on playing music from their balconies or dance together through virtual meeting applications… To simultaneously succumb to and transcend earthly limitations by artistic endeavours.
These are stressful times, and maybe it helps to remember that we are all a part of a mutual story.
An experience of searching for meaning and control in this storm of a life.
We all go through this one way or another.
And in that… We are not alone
This is our Odyssey." (Asaf Avidan)

THE STAR SHARKS
This all began with an urge to film the biggest fish in the ocean...at night.
I shot the interview with Abdul back in 2016 with Michael Fletcher whilst on a Cenderewasih Bay trip with True North. After cutting the interview I decided to make the arduous journey back to the Bagans. I then spent three days capturing the b-roll that was required to tell this short story.
Travelling to that remote part of West Papua and working with the locals was an incredibly humbling experience. I would repeat it again in a heart beat.

Still Here (還在)
In Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a few residents refuse to leave their now-abandoned village.
//

The Charge
The Charge poetically explores the notion of isolation and containment, and the need for expression that burns within us all.
No matter how far we are pushed there is always a human compulsion to join together and break free, themes that may be more relevant now than ever before.
Shot in Sydney on 16mm film, the project was written in 2019 about the notion of isolation than can affect and see many suffer, but the project has added poignancy in light of the current Covid-19 Pandemic which is seeing isolation and containment now affecting us all.
