Our 2019 monsoon here in Arizona was dubbed a "nonsoon" for most of the summer...and it sadly lived up to that moniker...at least, for awhile. Then the end of August showed up and just when you thought things would get worse, and slow down even more like usually happens...the monsoon ramped up. Into September it rolled and I found myself capturing some amazing storms, a couple of landspout tornadoes, insane lightning barrages, shelf clouds, supercells, monster downbursts and intense sunsets. It turned out way better than I had hoped after a lousy start.
This short video is basically a trailer or essentially a highlight reel of Monsoon 2019...and doesn't include most of what I time-lapsed this summer. I usually put out a full-fledged monsoon film that is around 8-10 minutes long every fall, but with this storm season so bad, I decided to just save up the good stuff and put it together with whatever 2020 holds and make Monsoon 6 the best monsoon time-lapse film I've ever done.
Hopefully you will enjoy this quick, intense look at what this past summer delivered! I edited this in a wider aspect ratio just for fun AND in full, 8K resolution.
Technical Details:
Everything shot with two Canon 5DSRs and various Canon lenses. A couple lightning sequences with the Sony A7R3
All clips available in 8K Resolution
Processed in Lightroom, LR Timelapse, After Effects and Premiere Pro.
