Day 1- Feeling Fresh (67km)
The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry...but they always go awry after one too many Christmas parties and the long-awaited chance to sleep in. With Christmas Eve drinks to attend; 120km turned to 67km, but a nice tailwind guiding me home I felt pretty fresh and optimistic about the coming week!

Day 2 - A Mild Blast (30km)
With an hour to kill before the Christmas day celebrations began, I managed to get out and earn my pigs in blankets. The weather was great, the country roads were empty and I'd just been given an awesome present... a hand built wooden bike mount. Winner winner turkey dinner!

Day 3 - Winter Is Here (47km)
“I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.” - Charlie Chaplin.

Day 4 - Double Puncture (61km)
''You know what, it's Christmas...I'm gonna take my fancy summer bike out for a spin.''
3 hours later
''Hi Ruth, can you pic me up please. I flew straight through a massive puddle into a pothole.''

Day 5 - The Icy Bonk (115km)
A night of snow and below zero temperatures made conditions a bit tricky, but I was behind my schedule and with pockets full of Christmas chocolate there was nothing stopping me. Apart from eating the chocolate and realising I was on flat ground, not going up hill. Must eat sugar, lots of sugar immediately, then take a day off.

Day 6 - Rest Day (0km)
With dry January just around the corner what better way to carb load than with lots of beer!

Day 7 - Forest Fun (108km)
I don't think beer is very good for carb loading.
Today was starting to get hard and I could really feel the 400km+ in my legs. A picturesque route through Delamere Forest kept me interested and with less than 100km to go I managed to get my head down and mush my feet through treacle. My slammed stem just seems to hurt my back now, rather than make me look like Cav.

Day 8 - Mission Accomplished (72km)
Blooming heck, those last few miles were hard, but I'm over the moon. Pass me the champagne before my Strava ticks over to zero at midnight!
