Andy Criere - Sound of Surfing

Experimental short documentary with Andy Criere, directed by Adrian Rodd. The eco of childhood memories fill the space of our present intensely. A recorder is useful to walk through our past. "Sound of surfing" is a reunion of Andy with the expectations he had about himself when he was a child. The persecution of a marine living with a fanciful character creates a bound with a past time in which the energies to find a place in the world hurriedly and the discords with our dreams lay down. Dreams that finally come true but, in a way, kill the fantasy. Dreams that, precisely, by coming true stop being dreams.

"Sound of surfing" is a film about the need to back up, stop and take distances. It is an experimental short film about the surfer Andy Crière. It shows a break in the middle of the training season's frenzy. Filmed in Hendaye, his home city and Hondarribia, a village where he also feels he belongs to with all his family, and other different parts of the Basque Country, it is an introspection moment in which Andy intends to travel the past ans the present.

El eco de los sentimientos de la infancia es el que, con más fuerza, puebla el espacio de nuestro presente. Una grabadora sirve para darse un paseo por el pasado. Sound of surfing es un reencuentro con las expectativas que Andy, cuando era pequeño, tenía de sí mismo. La persecución de un ente marino de carácter fantástico supone un vínculo con un pasado en el que reposan las energías por encontrar de forma apresurada un lugar en el mundo y los desencuentros con los propios sueños. Sueños que acaban haciéndose realidad pero que, de alguna manera, matan la fantasía. Sueños que, precisamente, por hacerse realidad, dejan de serlo.

Sound of surfing es una película sobre la necesidad de recapitular, detenerse y tomar distancia. Es un cortometraje documental experimental sobre el surfista Andy Criere. Se trata de una detención en el camino en medio del frenesí de la temporada de entrenamiento. Rodado en Hendaya, su ciudad natal y en Hondarriba, pueblo del que siente parte junto a toda su familia, y diferentes zonas del Pais Vasco. Se trata de una pieza introspectiva en la que Andy busca hacer un recorrido por el pasado y el presente.
