Wyoming Wildscapes 3

The final video in the Wyoming Wildscapes trilogy!

Quick edit: Seems there is some nasty compression going on with a handful of the really intense lightning sequences. This is not present in the guideline accurate h.265 video I uploaded. May very well be unavoidable due to bandwidth...I dunno. Hopefully this doesn't distract from those scenes too much.

Wyoming Wildscapes 3 is a 5 part video. Mountains, deserts/high plains, storms, storms, and more storms! It's my longest time lapse to date, and I do recommend watching the entire video at least once. However, each part does stand on its own. There is a lot of footage packed into this video. Wyoming Wildscapes 3 is also my first real attempt at creating ambient sound scapes. Always felt it was something severely lacking in my work, and decided to give it a shot this time around. The areas without ambient sound effects are intentional.

Why 3 storm sections you may ask? It's a hell of a lot easier to sit on your ass in a vehicle for thousands of miles than it is to carry 80 lbs of gear on your back into the wilderness for dozens of miles. Plus, I think supercells and other forms of severe weather are just about the coolest events our planet manifests. I find mesoscale convective systems of particular interest, and there are a few in this video.

I don't expect to be able to release much in the way of time lapse for the foreseeable future. Although I will probably release some more storm stuff down the road now and then as it's magnitudes easier and less time consuming than the mountain and desert wilderness stuff. Having a young one to take care of now has also changed my priorities. Need to find a more profitable career path as photography isn't cutting it here in Wyoming. The time and effort involved in creating this project boggles the mind when I look back at it. Suppose it's really all about the journey and memories made anyway, and there are definitely some memorable moments in this video. Won't spoil anything, you'll just have to watch. Don't want to bore people with too many silly stats, but the color grading and dust spot/bird/bug removal alone took over 500 hours, and yet I'm sure something was missed despite that time investment. This does not include the countless hours spent hiking, shooting, driving, or final editing. It has made for a very interesting process and journey. Don't think I'll ever be able to make something quite like it again.
