Joan has been housebound with M.E. for most of her teenage years but now in slow recovery an urge for independence is causing friction with her mother. So when Joan's tutor encourages her to push herself more she throws caution to the wind and, risking a relapse, leaves the house in search of new experiences. And a horse.
