French Canadian artist Marie-Lou Desmeules transforms a therapy session into a riotous, full-bodied display in this new film from brother directors Guillermo and Javier Polo Gandia. The artist, whose work uses the body as a canvas, metamorphoses the forms of her subjects—with daubs of paint and roughly applied plastics—into grotesque, colourful portraits of the rich and the famous, from Donald Trump to John Waters. The fraternal filmmaking duo explain of their spectacular subject: “We wanted to create a film that entered into Marie-Lou’s world and build a surreal story that could match it, that became an extension of her art. The visit to the therapist was a perfect and funny way to express the way she finds her inspiration, of how she works, and why she does what she does."
