Belgian future-soul outfit Up High Collective’s new video—directed by Brussels-based filmmaker Lars Bauwens—explores the mysteries and meanings of solitude. Soundtracked by the band’s break-beat experimentation, the cryptic video features a lone dancer in silhouette—a symbol of human isolation. “In the film, images are combined with a pulsing color pallet and abstract shapes, imitating the effect created when we close our eyes,” Belgian director Bauwens explains. “The locations mimic a strange planet surface far away, pushing our ability to comprehend what it means to be truly isolated.”
