NEW ZEALAND - AOTEAROA 4K

Music - Tony Anderson 'The Prophecy' licensed for use from the Music Bed. Some clips I have shot in between projects mostly in the North Island of New Zealand, my home. Being out in the remote places under the southern hemisphere night skies curled up inside a sleeping bag listening for the next shutter click of the camera (just to make sure the gear is doing it's job) reminds you so quickly how great it is to switch off from all the distractions of our crazy paced daily lives.

Introducing KuriousMan™️

Introducing KuriousMan™️

Filmed during TWO round trips Chicago>Mendocino, California>Chicago. The first trip was 5,000 miles, second trip was 6,000 miles!
This is the dream - living on the landscape of this great country, and learning about the little things and the big things, and all things in between.

This video isn't about the latest camera gear, the latest drone footage, time lapse techniques, etc etc... it's about showing you what is visible to an average person who is reasonably fit, who has a car and a tent. Our national parks are our greatest treasures, and this is an expression of my love for them.

This short project took over a year to complete, and all of the shots are of scenes that are accessible to anyone with a car and who is relatively in shape and can mange on foot.

I shot and edited everything, using a simple tripod, two cameras, and 4 lenses.

I hope this project inspires you to get out on the landscape and see our great country!

LIFE CYCLE - 4k StormLapse

Connect with me on these social media channels for more stuff like this: instagram.com/stormtimelapse twitter.com/stormtimelapse facebook.com/stormlapse
Licensing and other inquiries: chad at stormlapse dot com
-------------------------------------
Supercell thunderstorms, despite their menacing appearance and reputation, are simply nature's attempt to fix the imbalance of warm air beneath cold air, in the most efficient way possible. All thunderstorms are a byproduct of the sun heating the earth's surface and creating an unstable configuration of lighter, warm air, beneath heavier, cold air. What makes certain thunderstorms a supercell is the addition of wind shear: when they form beneath a strong upper-level jet stream.

The difference of wind speed with height adds a spin to the storm's updraft, similar to that of a sink drain, and the displacement of the the storm's rain-cooled air (its waste) far away from it's updraft base where it ingests the unstable warm air (its fuel), allows supercell thunderstorms to thrive for hours and cover hundreds of miles. Once their fuel supply is exhausted and the imbalance is corrected, they weaken and decay. This weakening process typically manifests itself as what storm chasers call "gusting out". This occurs when the amount of rain-cooled air overwhelms the lighter, warmer air, and it surges out into the lower density and cuts off the storm's fuel supply.

This collection of timelapses was gathered over the last six years from Texas to North Dakota and everywhere in between. The project started out as wanting to be able to see the life cycles of these storms, just for my own enjoyment and to increase my understanding of them. Over time, it morphed into an obsession with wanting to document as many photogenic supercells as I could, in as high a resolution as possible, as to be able to share with those who couldn't see first-hand the majestic beauty that comes alive in the skies above America's Great Plains every Spring. After more than 100,000 miles on the road and tens of thousands of shutter clicks later, this is the result. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Void Season - Extended OY Version

“Void Season” is a digital fashion design project.

Part dreamlike theatre, part lateral cargo cult hustle, a succession of bold garment designs acts as an ersatz runway show. In a minimal set of solid backdrops, radiant colors and oblique choreography second the exquisite design of costumes that have been entirely artificially generated.

A wealth of custom procedural surface detail emphasizes the uncanny rift between the realistic presence of the guises and the abstract vacancy of the digitized human movements.

ZEITGUISED X OY:

For the release of their track “A New Planet is Born”, ZEITGUISED supported their fabulous friends of OY with an extended edit to be used for their album promo and live touring visuals.

Commodity City - NOWNESS

For her latest film, Chinese-American director Jessica Kingdon takes us on a tour of China’s Yiwu Market—the largest wholesale consumer goods mall in the world. This award-winning work, which screened at Slamdance Film Festival, focuses on the daily lives of market vendors and their role in facilitating the flow of the world’s consumer goods and tchotchkes—from phone cases to plastic flowers.

Talking about her transfixing and thought-provoking work, Kingdon explains: “The markets have their own routines and rhythms, where the space—sprawling across five miles—operates according to the fluctuating demands of the global economy.”

LZ 129 - A Zeppelin Odyssey

MARAMEOFILM and European Film College presents:
"LZ 129 - A Zeppelin Odyssey" is a found footage documentary that explores the industrial power and magnificence of the German Zeppelin airship. The film is a portrait of the Zeppelin - from its construction, to flight, to its eventual demise in the Hindenburg disaster. LZ 129 evokes an emotional response from the viewer whereby underneath an aesthetic celebration of the Zeppelin as object, a darker correlation is made between the Zeppelin and the Nazi regime.

The Zeppelin is treated as a living thing - from birth, to life and ultimately death. An innocent eye is placed onto the Zeppelin during its construction period, whereby the seemingly innocent relationship between the German people and the Nazi government is also called into question. The flight of the Zeppelin at the centre of the film conveys an ethereal moment of spectacle, a spectacle that is grimly shadowed by the presence of Nazi propaganda beneath the surface. The demise of the Zeppelin, most notoriously through the world famous event of the Hindenburg disaster, brings this correlation between Nazi rule and the Zeppelin to its apocalyptic conclusion.

The film wishes to enact a feeling of complicity to spectacle and as a result, bring into question the political issue of spectacle as propaganda. The Zeppelin, removed from its context, becomes a creature that soars and invites awe as the audience become swayed by its aesthetic brilliance. But as we become aware of Hitler’s shadow beneath the image, we interrogate the danger of spectacle to avert the eye.

Under the Viaduct - NOWNESS

Vancouver-based cinematographer Norm Li—who was director of photography for two previous films on NOWNESS, TR/ST’s ‘Destroyer’ and ‘Fading Light’ by Nights & Weekends—presents his directorial debut: a meditative examination of the spaces occupied by society’s most deprived.

“The idea for the film was inspired by walking past a viaduct early one morning. It was quiet except for the sound of heavy rain and vehicles speeding by. A few tents, inhabited by the homeless, blew in the wind, perched in large bodies of muddy water. Various entertainment venues and condos were just around the corner. It was this decisive contrast that convinced me to make the film.

“Ultimately, I wanted to make a film that explores the divisions within humanity. The viaduct becomes a metaphor, portraying how luxury developments can destroy homeless communities. I captured the footage in a slow, single shot on 35mm film. While no humans appear in the film, it is undeniably about humanity—and how we live together—as a whole.”

The Artist is Present with Maurizio Cattelan and Gucci - NOWNESS

Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan—famous for his sculpture that showed the pope being struck by a meteorite—undertakes an extraordinary vision quest through a world of curious scenes and tantalising dreams. The film, shot entirely on iPhone by filmmaker Yuri Ancarani, supports a collaboration between Cattelan and Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, taking place on October 10 in Shanghai.

Finding himself in the Chinese city, Cattelan explores the distinction between image and reality, celebrating the role of imitation—rather than raw invention—in the creative process.

MUAY THAI

A surreal, atmospheric descent into the psyche of a Muay Thai boxer in the days leading up to a fight.

This intimate portrait reveals the rituals and pressures in Bangkok's boxing culture that have shaped our boxer and that cause him mounting physical and psychological tension as his dedication, faith, and doubt intersect.

Shot at a bare-bones training gym on the grounds of a Buddhist Temple, and in Bangkok’s historic Rajadamnern Stadium, the film captures the world-wide phenomenon of Muay Thai as it has been practiced for centuries. Its authenticity is the product of two years' work, multiple research trips, and two long days of filming with a dedicated Thai production team.

Cast: Josh Hayward, Pete Taifayongvichit, Sono Sanctus and Jesse Solomon Clark

RENDER

About the Work
RENDER is an experimental installation created using 20 sheets of organic display electroluminescence. Its focus’s on the perception of “being able to see things that cannot actually be seen” using footage from the the natural world such as rain, wind and lightning, as well as a three-dimensional audio reconstruction using natural sound fragments.

The artwork aims to trigger a new sense of depth allowing viewers to reimagine what is depicted between each display using their minds to fill in the blanks. By displaying fragmented three-dimensional visuals on multiple displays, a new perspective can be explored not only from the front but all angles in 3D space. This experience will intensely stimulate the viewer’s imagination, leaving a deeper impression on one’s mind.

Amorfo - NOWNESS

Iconic Mexican architect Luis Barragan’s Casa Gilardi—an iconic modernist house in Mexico City—hosts a body-bending dance troupe who twist and move through the geometric building’s colorful spaces and rooms. Director Andres Arochi explains his interest in experimenting with the physicality of Barragan’s architecture: “I wanted to play around with and explore the architect’s design. He knew exactly when and where people stand, and how the combination of light and space makes them feel.” Continuing, he notes that: “When we began shooting, magic started to happen. Light burst in through the window, and the dancer’s bodies started to flow in a way I had not anticipated.”

This self-taught artist’s love for pop culture and Native American art has given him a massive following.

This insightful portrait shows how Judd indigenizes the popular everyday to allow our young to see themselves in all aspects of life, while at the same time making his own dreams a reality through his passion and zest for life.
