Baia del Silenzio - timelapse from Sestri Levante, Italy

Sestri Levante is an Italian town between Genoa and La Spezia. The town has close to 20,000 inhabitants and is located in the coastal region Liguria which is popular with tourists for its beaches, towns and cuisine.

The original part of Sestri Levante is on a peninsula, with the Baia del Silenzio (Bay of Silence) on the east side and Baia delle Favole (Bay of the Fables) on the west side.

Baia del Silenzio is a delightful and enchanting bay characterized by a narrow sandy beach bordered by many pastel-colored houses. The bay is further caracterised by the many fishing boats anchored in the center of the bay.

Baia delle Favole was named in honor of Danish writer, Hans Christian Andersen, who lived in Sestri Levante for a short time in 1833. The writer was fascinated by the beauty of the location. The city also has an adventure festival - The Andersen Festival - which is an annual recurring event since 1998.
