Sunrise on Hawaii's Kilauea volcano reveals new growth struggling to survive in an otherworldly landscape. Twenty years ago this rainforest was destroyed - but the rains continue. In a thousand years the forest will return after destruction sows space for new life.

This film captures daylight power of a glowing river of molten rock as lava flows toward the sea from the Puʻu ʻŌʻō vent of Hawaii's Kilauea volcano over the buried Royal Gardens Subdivision. This flow has now reached the sea.
