TOTAL LOSS

Calling out into the dark, unknowable afterworld, two desperate grieving parents seek closure on their missing, presumed dead, daughter – through the powers of a medium. With alarming accuracy, our mysterious psychic is able to pluck shockingly intimate details seemingly from the aether, drawing Rebecca (Hannah Arterton) deep under her spell and rattling Isaiah (Ivanno Jeremiah) out of his deep depression, but there are more sinister forces at work, and nothing is what it really seems…

Smoke That Travels (2016)

What happens when a story is forgotten?

What a long journey it's been. This film was originally intended to be a small time capsule of my thoughts, feelings, and fears of stories being lost in time. It’s a piece dedicated to my little (currently 3 year old) brother, Senachwine, and a reminder for myself to look back on in the future. I started this last summer at 18, and little did I know that this film would take me on a journey and bring me closer to so many people around the world. Over 30 festivals and screenings from the Americas and Europe to Africa and Australia. I feel so lucky being able to meet new artists, family, and friends and experience treasured moments, big and small — it feels like a dream. Releasing this out into the world is a moment I will never forget, so here goes. Thank you so much to all who have supported this film so far.

with love x
Miigwech (Thank you),
Kayla

LARRY GONE DEMON

A frenetic, punk-rock nightmare centering on one asshole of a roommate.

When three twenty-somethings must deal with the incorrigible and incredibly demonic Larry, they risk life and limb in an attempt to save the soul of their once-kind-and-unassuming friend while also procuring his five-hundred dollars in back rent. New Zealand - Land of light and shadow

Many of these golden-hour scenes were captured across New Zealand from the far North to the deep South throughout 2016.

The time-lapse shows the contrasting change and the effect of light and shadow. Also observed are the effects of mother nature on her landscape with changes in weather, volcanic activity, and rare display of the Aurora Australis.

This compilation of time lapse sequences was selected as a finalist in the time lapse category in the New Zealand Geographic 2016 photographer of the year competition. See the results here: http://ift.tt/2eanO2H

For me, the music I have selected epitomizes the essence of New Zealand. The track is performed by Horomona Horo who uses a traditional Maori wind instrument known as the purerehua which creates a buzzing sound. He is accompanied by Rodger Cunningham who fuses the sound with a guitar. See more here about Horomona here: horomonahoro.com

Mare Nostrum — The Arab World

Directed by Stanislas Giroux (stanislasgiroux.com)
Music by Fran Soto (fransotomusic.com/)
Narration by Nathan Cahen (http://twitter.com/nathancahen)
Thanks to Maison Carnot (maisoncarnot.com)

Much love to my amazing girlfriend Aylin who helped me much to give this project such a storytelling feeling and left me unforgettable moments in Lebanon.

Watch the bonus video : Cool Kids of Tel Aviv (http://youtu.be/dTEk1KEIhMc?list=PLcKCwaxnhz4VgAyPJqnZvI_PXpq155TGw) from the « Cool Kids » series

I’ve been fortunate to travel the most misunderstood part of the world for a month, and this is what i got in return : A head full of beautiful thoughts, feelings and experiences ; enough to break the western cliché that the mass media wants to set about the Arab World.

This project is a condensed mix of 6 mediterranean countries in 4 minutes of video, and has been shot in a little bit more that 4 weeks.
I travelled with my usual light backpack half filled with my gear, and half with my surviving items.

In the background, you can hear an excerpt of the speech by Yasser Arafat to the UN in 1974, that means :
« Today I have come bearing an olive branch and a freedom-fighter's gun. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. I repeat: do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. »

Narration :

WEEPING WILLOW - The Short Animated Movie
There was a man; who fought through his entire life. He rode from one attack to another, marched on his horse. He was a brave soldier, fought with his pride. But maybe, it was time to watch the soldiers going along the setting sun under the shade of Weeping Willow.
This short-animated film is a free adaptation of Nazım Hikmet Ran’s poem; “Weeping Willow”

SALKIM SÖĞÜT - Kısa Canlandırma Film
At üstünde onca süvari. Sonra içlerinden bir asker atından düştü. Ordu dönüp bakmadı düşen askere. Tüm ihtişamıyla güneşin battığı yere ilerledi atlılar. İşte o zaman asker, bir başına kalınca geçmişi hatırladı. Belki de artık Salkımsöğüt’ün gölgesinde batan güneşe ilerleyen askerleri izlemenin vakti gelmişti.
Nazım Hikmet’in “Salkımsöğüt” şiirinin serbest canlandırma uyarlaması.

DateNite - Sex Bruise ( Music Video )

Alone again, I can't wait to get home. Why does nobody seem to like me? I just want a world where i'm loved. I know a game where they all want to come home with me, where they laugh at my jokes, a game where I am sexy again.

I slip the DateNite disc into the drive and wait for the game to load...is this the world I've been searching for? I turn off the lights and get ready to experience love again. I want my Sex Bruise.

Arctic

I think over again my small adventures, my fears
Those small ones that seemed so big.
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.
And yet there is only one great thing,
The only thing,
To live to see the great day that dawns
And the light that fills the world.

The City of the Future Is Already Here

In central Arizona there exists an experimental town called Arcosanti. It’s built on the principles of arcology, which combines architecture and ecology to envision a city that works in tandem with the Earth’s resources. In this short documentary, The Atlantic goes inside this distinctive urban space to understand how Arcosanti plans to reconstruct how humans envision cities.
