MEMORY BOX - Directed by Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell

Memory Box is the third and final film directed and produced by the filmmaking team of Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell, (Until The Light Takes Us, 99%). It premiered on Sept. 24, 2016, at Fantastic Fest. Aaron Aites, also the singer-songwriter behind the band Iran, died on April 28, 2016, after battling cancer. His band released three albums: S/T (1998), The Moon Boys (2002) and Dissolver (2008). Pitchfork described his self-titled album, IRAN, as “unabashed excellence.” Aaron's final EP as IRAN will be released sometime later this year or in early 2017. It is available as a reward at the link below.

Aites’ last film as a director, Memory Box, was intended as a proof-of-concept for a feature. Aites and Ewell were also working on a ghost film at the time of his death. The Junction - A-Track & Nick Catchdubs | Red Bull Music Academy

Watch The Junction: An animated series of creative encounters.

Stories of musical magnetism – how unique musical collaborations came to be. Animated short films tell the funny and often unexpected stories of artists, how they met, and the music they created together.

As the founders of Fool’s Gold Records, A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs have proven their imaginative and resourceful natures with a wide range of releases for the past ten years. They’re obsessives in the best sense of the word: constantly on the hunt for new musical discoveries and equipped with the gumption to get their finds heard. Animators Brandon Blommaert and Josh Holinaty bring the duo’s story to life in 3D, going into the brains behind a nonchalant tastemaking institution that always puts fun first.

The Red Bull Music Academy is a global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music. We celebrate music, its culture, and the transformative minds behind it. Begun in 1998, the Academy has taken the core principles that underlie its annual workshop for selected participants and applied this curatorial approach to events, lectures, and city-wide festivals throughout the year.

WELCOME TO THE VOID

Earlier this year I went on a trip with Red Bull to direct and film an episode of their Chasing the Shot series. This short film is more or less a directors cut of some of my favorite images and moments from that trip featuring Cam Richards and Noah Wegrich. While the primary focus of the trip was surfing, it was hard not to get wrapped up in the beautiful scenery, landscapes and eventually the sense of time standing still. I wanted to make something to reflect that and not have such an emphasis purely on surf action and the fast pace we are constantly surrounded by. Welcome to the void, I hope you enjoy.

The High Five

On October 2nd, 1977 Dusty Baker hit his 30th homerun of the season. As Baker rounded the bases, an excited rookie named Glenn Burke met him at home plate, raised his arm high in the air and slapped Baker's hand. It was the first high five recorded in the history of sports. A year later, Burke was forced out of baseball amid rumours of his sexual orientation

Seven Eleven by 20syl feat Ibrahim Maalouf

After making a timelapse video of Toronto and one of Paris, both cities that I lived in and really enjoy, I felt there was something missing. With that I thought of New York City. New York is one of my favorite cities. It is such an amazing source of inspiration for urban cityscape photography.  I don’t plan to stay in North America forever, and New York is not that far from Toronto, so I decided to take my chance. I wanted to do something unique. Therefore, I decided to do this 4K video of New York City in which I mix aerial footage and timelapse.

London

A short time lapse film of London. The sequences were filmed over a number of visits to the capital both last year and this year.

All filming was done with a Canon 5D Mark II with various Canon L series lenses including 17-40mm F4 L; 28-70mm F2.8 L; 70-200mm F4 non IS and a 24mm TS-E Mark II. Where necessary Lee Filters ND Graduated Filters were used to balance the light between the sky and the foreground.

Panning shots were accomplished with a Kessler Second Shooter.

Holy Grail sequences were achieved using a combination of Promote Control into LR Timelapse.

The images were first processed through LR Timelapse and Lightroom before being rendered in Adobe After Effects. The final film was produced in Adobe Premiere Pro.

All individual sequences are either available through Getty Images now or will be within the next few weeks.

Uncle Kent 2

Watch the full film here: http://ift.tt/2cP6LT7

"Uncle Kent 2 is the craziest movie sequel ever. A defiantly unconventional crowdpleaser."
- Eric Kohn, Indiewire

"Allow your head to Explode."
- Mike S. Ryan, Hammer To Nail

"The most stand-alone sequel ever made."
-Calum Marsh, The Village Voice

In a desperate search to create a follow-up to Joe Swanberg's 2011 film UNCLE KENT, Kent Osborne travels to a comic book convention in San Diego where he loses his mind and confronts the end of the world. Reuniting in the GREMLINS 2 of "Indie" sequels, Joe Swanberg, Jennifer Prediger and Tipper Newton return in a surrealist look into Osborne's madness. Written by Osborne and passing the directors' torch over to Todd Rohal (THE CATECHISM CATACLYSM) UNCLE KENT 2 plays out like an absurdist successor that bends the rules of sequels and the minds of the audience.

Stephanie Gilmore - The Tempest.

Steph Gilmore, Inside The Tempest.

It’s hard to go past Indonesia for a strike mission in the middle of the liturgical year. We scoured the archipelago from the comfort of our office chairs in search of a wave that compliments Steph’s particular set of skills. Steph was after “cute slabs” – the definition of which you’ll discover in due course—and while we weren’t blessed with days of waves, the one day of money was well worth the wait, and near-death experience of the boat ride back to base. Here’s two days on a leaky boat through the rose-tinted specs of the eternally peppy, Miss Stephanie Gilmore.

"Stephanie is an original badass. She surfs like people should surf and plays music from her soul. She's interested in a variety of topics outside of riding waves. She's got an eclectic and diverse group of friends and followers all around the world. She'd be just as comfortable in her skin if nobody knew who she was. My mom wrote me yesterday and said she is a Stephanie groupie and she just loves her whole deal. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who has anything but praise for her. She's not complicated like most women seem to be and knows how she wants to live and what she wants. What else can I say?" Kelly Slater.

Papa Machete

"Papa Machete" is a glimpse into the life of Alfred Avril, an aging subsistence farmer who lives in the hills of Jacmel, Haiti. He also happens to be a master of the mysterious martial art of Haitian machete fencing, also known as Tire Machèt. Teaching about the practical and spiritual value of the machete—which is both a weapon and a farmer’s key to survival—Avril provides a bridge between his country’s traditional past and its troubled present. The film documents his proud devotion to his heritage and his struggle to keep it alive in the face of contemporary globalization.

coral colors

In this video we have tried to show movement and the enormous chromatic beauty of corals, a kind of marine animals that despite being one of the oldest animals on our planet, are mostly unknown.

You will discover its stunning beauty, its spectacular colors and the mystery of his movements.

To capture these images it was necessary to apply the technique of time lapse as the slow movements of these animals are very difficult to see at a glance.

The use of macro lens gives a large enough vision to contemplate the huge variety of colorful species.

Photographic equipment:

CANON 7D
CANON 550D
CANON EF 100 mm 1: 2.8 L IS USM

To perform this video over 25000 photographs were made for approximately 1 year.

music: Atmostra III by Cedric Baravaglio, Jonathan Ochmann and Zdravko Djordjevic.

We like to think that with this work, we have put a small grain of sand to raise your attention about the Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural wonders of our world, endangered because of global warming and because of the industrial projects of the Government of Australia.

Thank you for your comments and likes

Stories of musical magnetism – how unique musical collaborations came to be. Animated short films tell the funny and often unexpected stories of artists, how they met, and the music they created together.

Too many cooks in the kitchen can ruin any well-intentioned cookout. But when you have talented young chefs like Kaytranada and River Tiber, your musical taste buds are in for a treat. The two Canadians bonded over a shared love for Brazilian music, but it’s their own distinct flavors that make the results of their collaboration so potent. Hamish Lambert illustrates this curious and open-minded pairing with his crayon drawings, harkening back to the childhood impulse to welcome every new kid joining in on the playground.

The Red Bull Music Academy is a global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music. We celebrate music, its culture, and the transformative minds behind it. Begun in 1998, the Academy has taken the core principles that underlie its annual workshop for selected participants and applied this curatorial approach to events, lectures, and city-wide festivals throughout the year.

coral colors

NAMASTE, Nepal One Year Later

One year after the deadly earthquake an estimated four million people are still living in temporary and unsafe shelters.
The roads have been cleared and the businesses have reopened, but not one ruined home had been rebuilt.
Sadly, the earth’s rumbling seams yet so fresh here.
Meanwhile the people had no chance but to take the matter in their hands.
They are united to work together to overcome the crisis.
I have seen families working together to clean the rubble and to improve their thin shelters.
I have seen child labor, homeless kids for whom life is still a challenge.
The Earthquake shook the ground but never people’s beliefs.
It has certainly set them back but has not taken away their dignity and solidarity.
They might have been left with nothing but they are more welcoming than ever.
The best way to give them a helping hand is to go to Nepal in vacation.
Tourism is the lifeblood of Nepalese economy and if you are serious about helping them, don’t just give money, go visit.

Just Dance: Brightening the streets of Johannesburg - NOWNESS

London-based director Alexander Tiernan talks about Pantsula, an energetic and politically charged dance style born in South Africa’s black townships, and the subject of his short film:

“Part dance, part lifestyle, Pantsula has its roots in Apartheid-era Johannesburg and continues to be a defining element of South African township culture. Some say it originated in the 1950s and that the jumpsuits and bucket-hat look came from the uniforms worn by black men employed as gardeners in white neighbourhoods.” Read more on NOWNESS - bit.ly/2d7Dsdj

The Junction - Chilly Gonzales & Peaches | Red Bull Music Academy

Watch The Junction: An animated series of creative encounters.

Stories of musical magnetism – how unique musical collaborations came to be. Animated short films tell the funny and often unexpected stories of artists, how they met, and the music they created together.

It’s a known fact that opposites attract. The classically trained Chilly Gonzales and rock provocateur Peaches brought out the best in each other when they first met at a basement jam session. Coming from opposite ends of the spectrum, they found common ground in their willingness to cross over. That bliss of breaking down the familiar and giving an unknown path a try shines through in the animation of Patrick Doyon, an Academy Award-nominated director. Sometimes, an apple rotten with old ways can grow into a sturdy new tree.
