NIOFAR

NIOFAR tells the story of a French girl who went to settle in Senegal and meet its inhabitants. In Wolof, Niofiar means "to be together".

This personal film is a metaphor of the amazing and unique experience lived by Hugo’s brother. He lived for one year at Grand Mbao, a small village of Senegal. There, he shared the day to day life of the villagers, and settled completely. learning the local language, giving himself and investing himself totally to them. Over there we called him the « Sénégaulois" a mix between the words Senegal and the Gauls.

Thanks to Colin, the rushes taken in Grand Mbao have a powerful strength of truth has they have been taken from the closest point you can get of the community. The characters are not disturbed by a foreign presence et forget the camera. The portraits the film depicts are fixed in authentic moments of life.

T

In the eternal duality between fear and desire we look for answers to expose the unknown.
We want the unknowable to make sense, to be unveiled through proper interpretations.

A mysterious radio frequency, a haunting sequence of numbers spoken in differnt languages, seemingly without a source. The bravest seek it as their radios, like compasses, lead them on a journey on the verge of their known limits.

Lyrics :
When seven tides collide it makes the party even more rad
It's such a drag to care someone insisted and now I'm there

Tell me tell me if I can show myself like before the sun
*2

Far too much didn't realize it first but my mind is taking a break
*2

Chorus

Tell me tell me if I can show myself like before the sun
Tell me tell me if I should do it again would you still be mine

And though it's hard to breath I'll take my time to break free
Well I know it's hard breath I'll take my time to break free

Chorus

She makes the sun rise and never fails to blow your mind

'Ryggen Fri' / 'We Got Your Back' (English subtitles)

There is so much to feel guilty about nowadays, when you think about it. Sure, we all care about the environment, but honestly, don't you just want to toss all the junk in the same waste bin, sometimes? What if there was a simple service that got your back covered, on a monthly direct debit plan?

Bonobo feat. Rhye | "Break Apart" (Official Video)

i-D Writeup: http://ift.tt/2y9b5ZL

The video is centred around three young couples, in three separate 24-hour periods as they spend an entire day together in one motel room with no phones, televisions, or other distractions. Each comes with their own unique histories, proclivities, and dynamics. We watch their intimate looks, conversations, and touches - juxtaposing their subjective passions with the indifferent transient space of a single motel room.

The School of Life - On Nagging

Sometimes the commissions that are the most fun are ones where you’re given nothing but a script, with the freedom to construct a visual narrative around it. This short film for the School of Life charts the relationships of two couples engaged in the cycle of nagging.  A shirking husband and his long-suffering wife, and a daughter who has become unreceptive to her mother’s tyrannical lessons.

'Nagging is one of the most understandable but counterproductive patterns of behaviour – that kicks in when we have failed to teach someone what we want and are feeling tired and bruised emotionally. But if we really want others to change, there is no alternative but to gather our strengths and try to convey information in a way that can be understood by someone else.'

Blind. Heartstreets Prod. Kaytranada

A group of atypical youngsters cut off from the common man’s reality roam their city and surroundings on horseback. They embody the ultimate expression of freedom: young and invincible at the reins of their mounts. Our focus centers around a young man who stands out from the group. We sense in him a very strong yearning to push beyond his world’s boundaries. We follow him one day, as he ventures into uncharted territory and decides to leave indefinitely.

Monster Factory

In the small town of Paulsboro, New Jersey the religion is pro-wrestling and it's temple is The Monster Factory. Over the past 30 years, pilgrims of all creeds, colors, shapes and sizes have made their way to this modest, repurposed high school gym, eager to escape the realities of their normal lives to pursue a place within a world of entertainment largely dismissed as fake. Despite what you may believe, one thing is certain - when it comes to the no bullshit, get-it-done training style of owner / head coach Danny 'Cage', you can't fake the blood, sweat, tears, and focus it takes to make dreams come true.

"Monster Factory" is this week's Staff Pick Premiere! Read more about it here: http://ift.tt/2lh7gvm
