"Nel Voodoo il soggetto che viene sottoposto al rituale viene condotto alla morte e poi riportato in vita (dopo ore, a volte interi giorni) in modo da espirare le proprie colpe ed essere purificato. Nei primi del 900 i militari americani d’istanza ad Haiti, che talvolta presenziavano ai riti, ritornavano in patria con storie piene zeppe di gente che era stata capace di sfuggire dal regno dei morti, da quei racconti e dalla fantasia letteraria basata su di essi nasceva il moderno concetto di zombie. Nel 1983 l’antropologo canadese Wade Davies si era recato ad Haiti poiché immaginava che alla base degli intrugli magici usati durante i riti potessero celarsi dei potenti veleni, quali la tetradotossina del pesce palla, capaci di causare uno stato di morte apparante in colui che ne viene a contatto, la scopolamina e l’atropina contenute nello stramonio che servono da antidoto. Alla fine del viaggio scrisse su quanto aveva scoperto nel libro “Il serpente e l’arcobaleno”.

Synopsis
In the vertical skeleton of an aborted and abandoned megalopolis, a man stands on the edge of the void. The only escape from this forsaken place is through the depths of the unknown...

Idea
The main motivation behind this short film is to create a movie that has a strong visual narrative and yet leave the audience free to understand it in their own way.
More than free interpretation, the film balances itself between multiple meanings and ideas and ultimately forces the viewers to make their own choices. This involvement, this tipping of the balance engages the spectators and from the scope of themes addressed in the film let them shape the story in their personal way.

After many months of hard work, we are very happy to share this film with you.

STOCKHOLM WINTER LIGHTS 4K TIMELAPSE

This is my personal view of Stockholm during December and January.
Every single image has been shot this winter 2015-2016.

The weather has been ranging from very mild around 10℃ down to a chilling -18℃.
But it hasn't stopped me. I´ve donned the best winter gear available and waited for those pretty sunsets you get in mid winter up in the north.

Almost all shots have been done at dusk. I´ve wanted to catch the golden hour, arriving to night.
A few times I got up to shot the chilly sunrise and have been greatly rewarded. Another few times I´ve gotten up, prepared the gear and just when I was about to start, the clouds have been rolling in, stopping my attempts of catching the first rays of sun.

I´ve mainly used hyperlapse techniques but also some static shots and some with motion control.

Marvel's Jessica Jones - Main Title

In the main titles for Marvel's Jessica Jones, Michelle Dougherty and team were tasked to create a heightened, stylized world within the world of this gritty Netflix series. Using a live action plate of paint and incorporating it onto photographs and other filmed elements, the director created a moody, painterly rendition of Jessica Jones' New York, where we see darkness at every turn.

Berlin City

Five years after my first documentary projects called "Berlin Dynamic" and "Berlin Time" my new long-term project "Berlin City" is coming. It shows the changing and pulsating life of the city, which is a harmonic combination of movement, colors and lights. In ten minutes the short movie provides an insight into typical and untypical places and scenes of the urban life. It catches diverse perspectives of different times of the day and seasons of the year. The movie is a mixture of moods and impressions, documented with many detail shots and it has been realized with techniques like timelapse, real time, slow motion and tilt shift. The 122 scenes are completely recorded in 4K quality.

Shadow of Southern India

This is the journey of deep southern India !!

Last year, me & my friend Rajesh went to Thiruvananthapuram (kerala) to attend a friends wedding (Rajeev & Swati). We stayed there almost a week & got to see places like Varkala, Kovalam, Kanyakumari & Rameswaram. While travelling, I managed to shoot a bit and though of making a travel-log. There is so much to see and witness the peace & greenery all over. We enjoyed the south Indian menu and meeting simple people during our stay. I can’t say it enough.

Kanyakumari (Tamilnadu) is the last tip of southen India. Like all edges, there's a sense of the surreal here. At certain times of year you can see the sun set and the moon rise over three seas simultaneously. The Temple of the Virgin Sea Goddess, Swami Vivekananda's legacy, Thiruvalluvar statue is breathtaking.

Rameswaram (Tamilnadu) was once the southernmost point of sacred India
If all this seems like so much folklore, it’s absolute truth for millions of Hindus, who flock to the Ramanathaswamy Temple to worship where a god worshipped a god. Eastern point of the island, Dhanushkodi, only 30km from Sri Lanka, has a natural magic and beauty that add considerably to Rameswaram's appeal.

Undisturbed Places - A Timelapse Film

There are places in the world where stars are the only source of light. Their singularity is breathtaking, inclines to reflection and becomes the root of inspiration. Places like that are usually unspoiled, natural and intact. These are the places where humans live in symbiosis with nature.

Namibia is one of the few places on Earth with the lowest light pollution. There are national parks there where the light pollution is reduced to zero. That’s why it has become a hotspot for astronomy photographers like myself.

"Undisturbed Places" is a project made in Namibia and Botswana during Namib & Kalahari Desert Astroexpedition, organized by Safra-Go. Taking part in a month-long journey, I was able to collect 2TB of timelapse footage. What you are about to watch is a selection of the most beautiful locations I was able to film.

Terraforming

Terraforming depicts a crystal planet that has been discovered in the galaxy. It follows a young cartographer's journey to the planet, where he engineers the environment to be habitable for humans using various tools of exploration. The Dune Clock tells the time with 3 million precision cut crystals; the minutes pass with falling crystals and the hour with the digital numbers. The Dune Table creates an array of miniature landscapes using sound frequencies ranging from 100Hz-10,000Hz demonstrating the planet's ever shifting surface.

The first ever object to be designed by man 1.7 million years ago was a flint hand axe. Flint has the same molecular structure as a crystal and they both consist of silica. The project juxtaposes the flint hand axe with the latest crystal technology; Xero chaton the world's smallest precision cut crystal measuring 0.6mm in diameter, smaller than a grain of sand.

Terraforming is a project commissioned for Designer of the Future 2015 by Swarovski at Design Miami/ Basel.

Unicef | Malak and the Boat

UNICEF is launching a new animated series meant to bring attention to the youngest victims of the Syrian refugee crisis, Unfairy Tales. Created by ad agency 180LA, the videos chronicle real children’s journeys from Syria by juxtaposing stunning animation with terrifying narrations of the terrible events wrought by this globally impactful humanitarian disaster.

The campaign will officially launch with the first story, Malak and the Boat, which will premiere at the Supporting Syria & The Region donor conference in London on February 4. The event is co-hosted by world leaders of the U.K., Germany, Kuwait, Norway and the United Nations. More than 70 countries, international organizations, NGOs, civil society and private sector attendees are expected.

Malak and the Boat tells seven-year-old Malak’s harrowing story of his journey across the Mediterranean seeking shelter from the Syrian conflict.
