WHAT COMES AFTER RELIGION

The debate between believers and atheists usually goes nowhere. The real issue is: what should fill the gaps created by the end of widespread belief? What should fill the God-shaped hole?

The Atlantic Road

The Atlantic Ocean Road or the Atlantic Road (Norwegian: Atlanterhavsveien) is a 8.3-kilometer (5.2 mi) long section of County Road 64 that runs through an archipelago in Eide and Averøy in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. It passes by Hustadvika, an unsheltered part of the Norwegian Sea, connecting the island of Averøy with the mainland and Romsdalshalvøya peninsula. It runs between the villages of Kårvåg on Averøy and Vevang in Eida. It is built on several small islands and skerries, which are connected by several causeways, viaducts and eight bridges—the most prominent being Storseisundet Bridge.

The Now - Ray Collins

The coal-miner turned photographer is bringing a new angle to oceanic imagery

The coal-mining town of Bulli, south of Sydney, is not regarded as a repository of high art, nor as a vibrant and pulsing beehive of life and color, and yet there was Ray Collins. Seven years ago the idea of his new photography book, Found at Sea, would have seemed ludicrous to him; he was still working a mile down in the mines and hadn’t shot a single frame. Collins crawled out of the mines after blowing out a knee—“No shock absorbers left,” he says—and bought a camera with the payout. In the short years since, Collins has transitioned from subterranean to submarine and become arguably the most inventive water photographer in Australia.

Timelapse - Porto In Motion

PT:

Faroe Islands - Total Solar Eclipse -

"On the space that widens between you and your imagination as you grow old."

Made with mostly simple household goods like food coloring, soap, water (and a few exotic things like Ferrofluid). I wanted to draw the viewer in with lush visuals and loose narrative, but then burst that suspension of disbelief with the recognizable bubble characters - compelling the viewer to ask themselves whether they still have their childlike wonder or not.

Singapore Selfies

Many times I have visited Singapore already on business trips, a lovely city in the heart of Asia. It exhibits an interesting contrast - the skyline feels like a cold, future extraterrestrial space, whereas the streets are crowded with lovely people who enjoy shopping, dining outside and just hanging around at street corners.

On all these trips I did some filming, but the ends never came together. The last two times it was different, as I discovered a theme which would bridge the contrast - the selfie's. Never, in any other city did I see so many people making cell phone pictures of themselves and relatives in front of the futuristic skyline.

And in the end that was the connection between the people and the futuristic skyline.

Let me know what you think!
