'Pleasure and action make the hours seem short' – William Shakespeare
I had the immense privilege of following the set of ‘Some Sweet Oblivious Antidote’ and capturing Sir Lenny Henry taking about the film. I learnt a so much and made many observations and it has helped me on my own journey as a film maker in so many ways.
Directed by the talented Christiana Ebohon and written by Maya ‘O’ Shea, Some Sweet Oblivious Antidote is an award winning short film (Best of the Fest, TriForce Short Film Festival 2018 ) that stars an award winning cast and crew. Both Sir Lenny Henry and Wunmi Mosaku have won Baftas for their work and Colin Salmon is well known for his work in films. Others have impressive CVs such as Cecile Van Djik for her work in costume design for major films and the Oscar winning ‘Phantom Thread’ and upcoming Star Wars.
It is young Fatima Koroma who steals the show with her wonderful role as a school child who suddenly only speaks ‘Shakespearean’ verse as her desperate mother tries to find a cure. Lenny Henry plays the therapist and takes her to the National Theatre to see if he can get to the bottom of it, does he succeed?
