Bondax’s latest feel good single ‘Real Thing’ is juxtaposed by an intense film directed by creative partners; Ralph Briscoe & Jay Stephen (at Time Based Arts).
The story follows one man alone in a house and his emotional journey to self acceptance. As the main character goes from one persona to the next, with scenes jumping from being dark and unnerving to seductive and humorous, the film portrays the highs and lows of someone in constant conflict with their identity. The narrative delves into the unrealistic expectations we place upon ourselves to be like other people and the obsession to be perfect. In particular, the film focuses on the pressures young men feel to constantly hide their emotions as well as identity issues ethnic minorities experience from lack of aspirational representation of people like them in the media.
We wanted to shed light on the struggles people go through behind closed doors” explain the directors, “Our film explores the journey of self love and the importance of accepting yourself as the real you.”
