A shot is rarely nothing more than a shot. Behind a captivating frame lie hidden countless invisible patient efforts and sacrifices that led to its creation. These ventures affect not only one’s way of life, but their attitude and demeanor as well.
Through this video, I speak about the experiences gathered during one month spent in Patagonia, chasing the elusive landscapes that were to be put together and forward in my film Australis. Further, I try to voice sensations and sentiments from all my journeys, believing it is my work that shapes and defines me and not the other way around.
I live not in myself, but I become
Portion of that around me; and to me,
High mountains are a feeling, but the hum
Of human cities torture: I can see
Nothing to loathe in nature, save to be
A link reluctant in a fleshly chain,
Class’d among creatures, when the soul can flee,
And with the sky, the peak, the heaving plain
Of ocean, or the stars, mingle, and not in vain.
(Lord Byron, Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage)
