Venice has been slowly sinking for hundreds of years -- it is entirely possible that it might fully submerge one day. Knowing this fact gives a significantly different meaning to a ferry ride through the hazy canals in the early morning.

In a particularly mysterious morning I took the vaporetto that traverses the Grand Canal and let the foggy atmosphere bleed into the lens of my camera. The entire ride felt like a ghostly experience that couldn't be captured, despite my best efforts.
