The Victorian façade of Amanda Levete’s north London home hides the cavernous expanse of a former dress factory. Beginning her career working under celebrated modernist architect Richard Rogers, Levete made her mark at iconic design practice Future Systems, founded by her and her then husband, the late Jan Kaplický. In 2009 Levete set up her own studio, AL_A, which has since won commissions including an extension at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum and a mosque for Abu Dhabi’s future World Trade Center.
