Early Saturday morning, a freshly tuned piano, hot shower and hot coffee = perfection. My upstairs bestie Nadine came down to the porch to listen in...
Mozart Piano Sonata #16 in C major, 2nd movement, Andante, KV 545
The term "legato" means "in a smooth flowing manners, without breaks between the notes."
On the piano this is achieved by transferring the weight and energy from one finger to the next, with precision shifts from note to note.
This is dedicated to all of my singer friends with whom I have worked for so many decades: I have been influenced by your beautiful flowing lines of expression. Mozart's operas demonstrate his stunning mastery of sonic balance and control for the human voice, and this simple piano piece is a lovely example of the "singing tone" that we cultivate on the piano.
Using new mics and loving this close-up and gentle sound. If you listen with hi-fi or headphones you can hear the dampers.
Filmed with the Canon 5D Mark iii, Rokinon 35mm Cine lens and recorded with Logic.
Both the footage and audio are unaltered in any way - no color or exposure correction, no added audio effects or fixes, no EQ-ing, no mixing... nada.
