The Grand Teton Triathlon - aka The Picnic - An all human-powered ascent of the Grand Teton - while carrying all of your own food, water, and gear for the journey:

Leg 1 - Bike from Jackson, WY to Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park - 21 miles
Leg 2 - Swim across Jenny Lake - 1.3 miles
Leg 3 - Climb to the Grand Teton summit at 13,775' - 10 miles and 7,000+ feet of elevation gain

Then, do it all in reverse, back to town...

On July 19, we found a perfect weather window and set off on an all-day picnic adventure into the unknown.

Leaving town at 2 am, we were swimming Jenny Lake in the dark by 4 am, reaching the west shore for a gorgeous blood red sunrise, summiting the Grand in early afternoon under clear blue skies.

Facing uncharted, hallucinogenic exhaustion upon returning to the valley floor at 8 pm, we pressed on to Jenny Lake for the final swim. Keeping close to the shoreline, we towed our bags behind us as the blackness of night descended - the inky black water, the dark, looming mountains towering overhead, and brilliant stars shining above as the exhaustion took us deeper into the darkness and inches closer to home.

Facing a torturous, unexpected headwind, we rode back to Jackson in a daze, arriving at the car at 1:24 am - 23.5 hours and almost 70 miles after we embarked...
