MYSTIC JUNGFRAUJOCH - TOP OF EUROPE

I got the permission to stay overnight at the Jungfraujoch station. It was an amazing experience. Everything was shot in 48 hours from May 17th to May 19th. The first night was a New Moon with very clear skies. It was fantastic to shoot the milky way. Second night wasn't very clear but I got some great cloud formations. The station is at 3454 meters (11'000 feet) above sea level. At this hight, one can sometimes feel a milde form of altitude sickness like headaches, dizziness and being out of breath easily. I was working the first night through with only half an hour of sleep. The second night I got about 5 hours of sleep...

Some technical details:

I shot with 3 cameras about 200 GB of photo material. I got 17 sequences of about 8000 photos out of the 48 hours. Each sequence is between 5 to 30 seconds long. Pre-production took 3 business days and post-production took another 7 business days. Weight of camera gear 40 kilos. The video is commercially available for sale in HD and 4K.

I would like to thank the team of the High Alpine Research Station Jungfraujoch to allow me to stay up there and the Jungfrau Bergbahnen for their support to make this project come true. A big thank you as well to Maria and Urs, my friendly hosts at the station.
