The New Yorker: Leonard Cohen
In 2019 I was commissioned by The New Yorker to direct, design, and animate a pilot series of three animated visual essays.
The first of the three films features the great Leonard Cohen as he reflects on death and preparing for the end. The initial interview, by David Remnick, was recorded at Cohen's home in Los Angeles a month before he passed away.

Short of the Week:

"Two undocumented, Turkish brothers face the challenges of life in New York City together. Green (aka Samet), the younger brother and a recent arrival to the city, wants to make a fresh start in a new place, but Abi, older and battle-worn, has been in the city longer and knowing the challenges that await his brother wants to protect him. When a street altercation turns into an assault, Green draws the police to the apartment that he shares with his brother and several undocumented Middle Eastern men, unwittingly putting them all at risk of discovery. The result puts Abi and Green against the other residents and threatens to separate the newly reunited brothers."

MASLO CHERNOGO TMINA /// THE UNTITLED
/// About Project ///
The musician's experimental video Maslo Chernogo Tmina does not have a clear narrative, it is rather a surrealistic and gloomy metaphor of compassion, in which a cafe with post-Soviet aesthetics, detached from a particular time, is assigned the meaning of Purgatory, and his occasional guests - the images of lost souls, for which their last song becomes a background for a mystical ritual-transition.
All the roles in the video were performed by unprofessional actors without any on camera experience. According to the director's plan, in order to uncover the personality types as much as possible, they were given complete freedom of action, which was fixed by the camera.

Web Unleashed 2019: Front-End Developer Conference Titles
When the web is unleashed it's fluid, continuously blossoming into new forms, in concert with its audience. By challenging constraints, we’ve found endless new shapes in a rectangular container. This title sequence was inspired by that evolution. We’re starting with conventional elements — windows, scrollbars, browser tabs — and then molding and remixing them into new forms, across new dimensions, and new interactions.

The Idea
As part of our long-running short films initiative, we pitched the question to our team "Can you visualise the frustrations of the creative process?" So we organised some brainstorming sessions on the problems with brainstorming sessions, had committee meetings on the pains of design by committee, and bounced ideas around about how we bounce ideas around. Embracing a minimal design language to focus on the characterisation, we created a short film which is a montage of relatable scenarios for the creative professional.
